Well... yesterday we had a "heat warning" over the city of Cardiff complete with a heat stroke emergency number in case you can't handle the heat. The high today was about 26 degrees Celsius which roughly translates into about 80 degrees Fahrenheit... I laughed. I have however been able to accomplish some semblance of and idea of how to get around Cardiff over the last couple days and am at least under the delusion that I look and feel more British than I was when I got here! haha! I am starting to fall in love with this city more and more each day as Father is breaking my heart for these people! Father has really started convicting me of the sense of urgency that we should have when it comes to sharing His story. There is a city full of people that are desperately looking for something to fill the void and emptiness in their life and I have access to answer so why am I not out there spending every waking moment trying to tell them?
Today was one of the neatest days for me so far because I finally got to start a relationship! We went to an area that I hadn't gotten to go to yet but that teams have spent time at in the past and met a man who, for the sake of this blog, is named Ishmael. He is an African who owns a restaurant here in Cardiff and he is absolutely hysterical! First of all the fact that I have found an African here in Cardiff is providence but I really hope to be able to continue to grow my friendship with Ishmael over the next few weeks! Then tonight we went to an area of Cardiff called Butetown that is a mainly Islamic community and had dinner with a friend of the M there. We were able to ask him a lot of questions about his religion and it really was very interesting. Tomorrow we are going to a Mosque and we will get the chance to really learn a lot more about the religion that so many of the people we are coming into contact with believe.
The other day I found a verse that really sums up what I would like you to be Pring for me and my group. It's Colossians 4:2-6. I beg you to go and look it up and really Pr what Paul asks the Colossians to Pr for him about and then what he asks them to do themselves... that is my Pr for myself and our group as well. Within the next few days we will be selecting which area we will each be focusing on specifically and I ask you to Pr that Father will place me in the area that he wants me in and will allow me to learn that area quickly and establish relationships. Be Pring that Father would continue to speak to me and grow and stretch me as he has been doing enormously over the last few days and that our team would continue to be disciplined and use our time effectively and how and where Father wants us! I thank you for your Prs and I know that Father is listening to them and answering them!
Please feel free to email me at Kara_LeTournea@baylor.edu if you have any questions or want more details about anything. I would love to hear from friends and family from back home as that is very encouraging for me! I love you all and miss you greatly but Father is working here and I can feel it!
Mission Possible!
My mission on these trips is to proclaim God's word and Jesus' name and to glorify Him through my actions, words, thoughts, and lifestyle. I hope to grow and stretch my own faith through my experiences on these trips and come to a deeper and more intimate relationship with Christ through making His name famous all summer and beyond! Through this blog I hope to keep you, my family and friends, updated and informed on the preparation for the trips and what God is doing during each trip.
